I have been taking a weekly ceramics class at the University Arts League in West Philly since 2008. It has been a way to keep working with my hands, since much of my creative work in the past couple years has been made with digital equipment ( still camera, video camera, or the computer). Working with clay has given me the opportunity to move away from concepts and to focus on function.
In 2011 I decided to hone my skills and practice working with a single form, creating multiple pieces of a similar shape. The first project I gave myself was to make 50 ceramic tumblers (simple drinking glasses). I have now moved on to making bowls.
